rupi-kaur-mind-and-body

Tonight starts a season full of offerings from my heart to yours.

Everything I do reflects my own, ongoing journey to find that integration of body + mind + spirit…to know my own wholeness…to reside in that natural state of connection and depth of peace.

Join me as we continue to affirm that we are worth our own best efforts.

It’s all here.

And if you’re interested, I have a number of upcoming offerings which will continue to explore healing and justice and liberation and transformation.  I really hope you’ll make the journey with me.

Knowing our Woundedness

In class this week: Saturday 10:30a – 12p at Durham Yoga Company.

Excerpt by Lama Rod Owens from Radical Dharma.

I’ve got quite a few exciting offerings coming up.
Please read on for all the details.

It seems each week I sit down to write, there is another tragedy to mourn.  I struggle to know how to do justice to the hurt and suffering that I am sitting with, that so many are forced to sit with day in, day out.  I don’t know how to honor the memories of all those killed at the hands of the police, including Keith Lamont Scott and Terence Crutcher and the protestor shot and killed at point blank range by Charlotte Police just last night.

As usual, I don’t know what to say, don’t know what “the answer” is. But I know that when my heart hurts this bad I try to breathe.  And pray.  And meditate.  Not as a form of spiritual bypass.  Not to tune out or dissociate.  Not because that is easier.

No.

I engage with these practices because they help me really feel the fullness of the moment. With all the pain and rage and anger and hopelessness and resistance and commitment. To really feel the full impact and enormity of the moment and the movement.  To deeply know my own woundedness in this moment.

Again this week I’m taking inspiration from Radical Dharma, written by Rev. angel Kyodo williams with Lama Rod Owens and Jasmine Syedullah, PhD.  The above excerpt is from a section Rod wrote, and it is speaking to me.

“Healing is knowing our woundedness; it is developing an intimacy with the ways in which we suffer.  Healing is learning to love the wound because love draws us into relationship with it instead of avoiding feeling the discomfort.” – Lama Rod Owens

It seems all I do these days is meditate on healing…pray for healing…try to co-create conditions of healing for myself and others.  Healing is the where I’m at…where it’s at for me right now.

Join me as we explore this on the mat. Saturday at 10:30am at Durham Yoga Company. Sign up here.

And if you’re interested, I have a number of upcoming offerings which will continue to draw on inspiration from Radical Dharma, will continue to explore healing and justice and liberation and transformation.  I really hope you’ll make the journey with me.

ange-liberation

Excerpt from the book Radical Dharma by Reverend angel Kyodo Williams.

I’ve got quite a few exciting offerings coming up.
Please read on for all the details.

This month in my Saturday classes I’m teaching on themes from the book Radical Dharma, from which the above photo is excerpted.  The book’s principle author is an incredible teacher and activist, Reverend angel Kyodo williams, and she is coming to Durham in late October.  I am so excited to be in space with Rev. angel and I highly encourage you to check out more information about her upcoming visit – she is offering a free public dharma talk as well as a weekend-long workshop.

This week we’ll be looking at exactly what Reverend angel references above – the incredible, lived experience of true freedom that liberation brings, especially freedom from the need to control, freedom from the temptation to be “co-dependent with Grace” as I call it.  Join me on the mat as we explore just how liberated you can be.

Make check-in a breeze, sign up now.
