Inspiration

Saturday 4/16 at Align and Shine
Note: there’s no YQM this week 4/20 because our venue is unavailable. I’ll be back next week for the Final YQM before my two month sabbatical (see below).

I’m working hard right now to just get through this next week – basically my final final push through some intense deadlines and things.  And as I work my butt off, I am trying to be brave enough to pay attention to all the ways that I try to cope and keep it movin’ in the face of the relentless onslaught of toxicity I’m immersed in (we’re all immersed in, imho).  I know that I cope by trying to control things that I cannot control, that I turn against myself in icky ways, and that I get tempted by the lure of keeping quiet because I think it will keep me safe.

So I’m turning to the world around me for inspiration…and I found these beautiful images from the Portable Fortitude body of work by Corina Dross.*  What beauty and joy I found in this simple act of creativity, in pairing these images with a joy rock from my oldest nephew and godson Henry. Just looking at it gives me hope.

What gives you hope right now?

I’ve been teaching all month on themes related to Resilience and Renewal, inspired by spring and, let’s be honest, a deep and very personal need to be reminded of what I’m made of (what we’re all made of imho).  Tomorrow we’ll look at Inspiration. Will you join me as we hold space together for what inspires and lifts us up? For what keeps us keepin’ on and lovin’ and fightin’ and resistin’ and ??

I need you right now. (I think we all need each other in my humble opinion.)

Western civilization is founded on the belief system that spirit and matter are separate and distinct…The separation of spirituality from the rest of life leaves us spiritually homeless.                     -A. Judith

Note: Chakra work can be quite deep and transformative, and as such can unearth some powerful things. As always, I encourage you to work at your one hundred percent, not backing away from your edge nor—especially important in this work—plowing past your limits. Whatever comes up in the context of working with these energies within or outside of class, please do whatever you need to do to take appropriate care of yourself.

While the material we cover in class will be but a tiny scratch on the surface, like any therapeutic endeavor it can be as powerful as you are willing to allow it to be. It works if you work it. Give yourself permission to do so, and also know that whatever comes up, you have exactly what you need already. Contact me directly if you need any additional support of have specific questions about things as they arise. I am not a chakra expert, but I am always here to support you however I can, as well as connect you to folks who can give you the additional support you might find that you need.

Sahasrara – Crown Chakra

Our journey along the Rainbow Bridge is now complete – we have taken the final step.  The Rainbow Bridge, like any bridge, is about connection. The two ends of the spectrum connect the individual self–at the root–with universal creation, at the crown.

Here we are invited into a vision so expansive and inclusive as to transcend the individual realm.  The name sahasrara means “thousand-fold”–the crown chakra is a thousand-fold lotus. The petals of the lotus flower, instead of turning up, actually turn downward, dropping the magnificence of cosmic consciousness into the crown chakra and down through the entirety of the system. The thousand-fold lotus flower at the crown chakra could not flourish without its roots deep in the earth. Our capacity to connect with the transpersonal, the transcendent, the cosmic consciousness requires that we be full grounded in our bodies, our emotions, and our individual power, and connected to our place at the heart center of the universe. In this way the two ends of the spectrum are deeply connected.

As we discover the immensity of the system we are embedded in, we identify with our universal connection. Our information can now encompass knowledge of distant galaxies thousands of light years across, as well as the dance of subatomic particles existing within each cell of our body.

Come dance with the Divine Inside and Out! In our final look of the chakra system, consider wearing violet and come prepared for a calming and grounding practice which will include emphasis on yogic breathing (pranayama) and meditation (pratyahara/dharana/dhyana), along with physical poses (asana).
